We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate an incredible milestone in the career of one of our very own — Cayla George has been named Captain of the Australian Opals for the upcoming Asia Cup!
Cayla’s journey is a true testament to what hard work, perseverance, and community roots can achieve. Starting out as a North Brisbane Dragon and Brisbane Capitals junior, Cayla’s early basketball days were spent right here on our local courts. While her time with us may have been just a small chapter in her junior years, her impact continues to be felt across our club. In fact, you can still find her name engraved on our Junior MVP trophies — a lasting reminder of where it all began.
Today, Cayla stands as not only one of Australia’s most accomplished basketballers, but also as a true role model for the next generation. Her leadership, resilience, and humility inspire young athletes to dream big and believe in where the game can take them.
Her resume speaks for itself:
WNBA Champion
4x WNBL Champion
WNBL MVP
Captain of the Australian Opals
Cayla, your Dragons and Capitals family couldn’t be prouder. You've made an entire community beam with pride, and we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way in green and gold.
Thanks to Grace Stephens for the photos!
